Meet Your New G.C.

Hunter A. Young has excelled in roles ranging from laborer and superintendent to estimator and project manager, giving him a broad perspective on what it takes to complete projects efficiently and effectively. He offers expert guidance and employs proven, cost-effective methods without ever compromising on quality.

Prior to and during his time at East Carolina University, Hunter handled both field and administrative responsibilities for large-scale commercial contractors as far back as 1995. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, he moved to the Northern Outer Banks to serve as a Project Manager for a well-respected residential and commercial contractor. His notable achievements during this period include overseeing multiple multi-million-dollar condominium projects—one of which featured a three-story, full-service bar and restaurant—as well as numerous high-end custom homes and the renovation of a 6,000-square-foot clubhouse and snack bar.

In the spring of 2006, Hunter relocated to the Southern Outer Banks and was hired as a Senior Project Manager and North Carolina General Contractor Qualifier for a large residential “golf course” centered development in Carteret County. His responsibilities encompassed infrastructure oversight, permit procurement, and overall cost accountability, all while managing on-site construction. Having successfully passed the North Carolina Contractor’s exam in 2003 and maintaining his license thereafter, Hunter established H. A. Young Contracting, LLC in early 2009. This endeavor allowed him to further emphasize the principles he considers vital to every project: open communication with clients, the use of superior materials, hands-on daily supervision, and the selective evaluation of subcontractors.

What to expect from Hunter throughout your project? An excellent general contractor who is an advocate for the client as well as an integral and collaborative member of the design team. Hunter will work with the customer and architect/design team to help establish a realistic budget for the project and then monitor the cost and scope through the design and construction process.
